Ageing Unbound: Mobilizing Communities for Older Persons’ Health
The Ageing Health Summit is a hybrid event (in-person and online) taking place during the TUFH 2026 Conference at the University of the Philippines, Manila. The summit focuses Screening implementation of the WHO Integrated Care for Older Persons (ICOPE) framework through practical and scalable approaches, the art of social prescribing and culturally responsive communication particularly suited for low- and middle-income settings.
Led by the WONCA Special Interest Group on Ageing and Health and The Network: TUFH’s Ageing Health Community of Practice, the summit brings together researchers, clinicians, community health workers, educators, students and policy leaders. Regardless of your role, this workshop shifts your perspective from “What is the matter with this elderly patient?” to “What matters most to this older person?” This shift is the
cornerstone of a socially accountable health system.

✅ Learning Outcomes:
- Accurately screen for declines in intrinsic capacity (mobility, cognition, and sensory functions) using the WHO iCOPE screening tool.
- Apply advanced communication techniques to elicit “what matters most” to an older adult, ensuring care plans are culturally humble and person-centered.
- Map local community assets (parks, social clubs, volunteer networks) and create a referral loop that connects clinical needs to social solutions.
